BRIDGES
Until
implants were
introduced
years ago, the
dental bridge
was usually
the treatment
of choice to
replace
missing teeth.
Today, the
bridge is
still used
frequently and
may be the
best choice,
depending on
your needs.
For the
patient, a
bridge is a
less time
consuming option than
an implant and
can be
completed in
two office
visits over a
two week
period. A
bridge is a
group of
crowns that
are connected
together to
replace one or
multiple
missing teeth.
The bridge
consists of a
pontic
(prosthetic
tooth) which
is attached to
two
adjacent crowns
and fixed in
place. A
bridge helps
to maintain
the shape of
your face and
restores
function where
you are
missing a
tooth. If
missing teeth
are not
replaced, the
teeth around
that space may
shift, causing
your teeth to
become
misaligned. |
